About Us

The University of Cape Verde is a public higher education institution that, through teaching, research and extension activities, promotes the creation and dissemination of culture, science and technology, in order to promote the qualification of the Cape Verdean nation , as a strategic factor in the country’s human and sustainable development.

Uni-CV pursues, among others, the following purposes:

• Promote human development in its entirety, with emphasis on the scientific, technical, ethical, social, cultural and artistic dimensions, and having as a paradigm the incessant search for high quality standards;
• Promote fundamental and applied research activities that aim to contribute, in a creative way, to the country’s development;
• Promote the dissemination of cultural, scientific and technical knowledge that constitute the national heritage;

• Academic freedom – Uni-CV must accept itself and be understood as a privileged space for creating knowledge and promoting culture, for free expression of thought and circulation of ideas, for respect for ethics and for valuing people, without being subjected to political and ideological constraints of any kind;
